Sony hands out awards every year to developers and publishers that range from how many units were sold to user choice. For a game to get a Gold Award, it needs at least 500,000 units shipped (in Japan) and for a Platinum Award it takes 1,000,000 units shipped (again in Japan). Only one game got the Platinum this year, and that is FFXIII.
